Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, Cookies Policy, Cancellation Policy and Website Disclaimer for Autodiag.
Autodiag ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data when you visit our website, contact us or use our services. Please read it carefully.
We may collect and process the following personal data:
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling. We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We retain your personal data for as long as is necessary for the purposes described above. Vehicle and service records are typically retained for six years to comply with HMRC requirements. Records are then securely deleted or destroyed.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port or object to the processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within one calendar month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. Electronic records are password protected. Physical records are kept securely on our premises.
We may share your data with trusted service providers (such as our accounting software or payment processor) where necessary to deliver our services. These providers are contractually bound to process your data only in accordance with our instructions and applicable data protection law. We do not transfer data outside the UK or EEA.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be published on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
These Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between Autodiag and you (the customer) in connection with our vehicle diagnostics, MOT testing, mechanical investigation and repair services. By booking or using our services you agree to these Terms.
Autodiag provides specialist vehicle diagnostics, auto-electrical investigation, mechanical investigation and repair, MOT testing and general servicing from Unit 4, Laughing Dog Industrial Estate, London Road, Rugby, CV23 9LP, or as otherwise agreed. We reserve the right to decline any work at our discretion.
All work is carried out only with your express authorisation. We will not proceed with repairs, parts orders or additional investigation beyond what has been agreed without contacting you first. A diagnostic session fee is payable once the diagnostic work has been carried out, regardless of whether you proceed with further repairs.
All estimates are provided in good faith based on information available at the time and are not fixed-price quotations unless explicitly confirmed as such in writing. Where additional work becomes apparent during a job, we will contact you before proceeding. All prices are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated. Our VAT registration number is GB286590361.
Our standard diagnostic session (up to one hour, £95 + VAT) includes full system scanning, live data analysis, wiring and circuit testing, communications network testing and component testing as appropriate to the fault being investigated. The fee is charged for the technician's time and expertise, not for a guaranteed outcome.
A diagnostic session does not guarantee that a fault will be identified within the allotted time. Some faults — particularly intermittent ones — may not be present or reproducible during the session. We will advise honestly on the best course of action in all cases.
Extended diagnostics (up to two hours, £180 + VAT) applies to complex or multi-system faults, or larger and more complex vehicles where extended time is clearly necessary. This is always agreed with you before additional time is used.
Where parts are required we will obtain suitable quality parts appropriate for the vehicle and repair. We do not exclusively fit original manufacturer parts unless specifically requested, as this may affect price and availability. We reserve the right to decline to fit customer-supplied parts at our discretion. We accept no liability for the failure of customer-supplied parts.
We do not work directly with vehicle warranty companies. We do not submit claims on your behalf, negotiate with warranty providers, or adjust our findings to support a warranty claim. We will produce an accurate, truthful diagnostic report and written estimate which you may use to submit your own claim. The diagnostic fee is payable by the customer regardless of whether a warranty claim is accepted. Any shortfall between our charges and a warranty payment is the customer's responsibility.
MOT testing is carried out in accordance with DVSA standards. An MOT result is a statement of the vehicle's condition at the time of test only. A pass does not guarantee the vehicle remains roadworthy beyond the test date. MOT fees are payable regardless of outcome.
Payment is due on completion of work unless otherwise agreed. We accept cash, bank transfer and card payment. We reserve the right to retain possession of a vehicle until all outstanding charges are paid in full. Invoices unpaid after 30 days may be subject to late payment charges in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Vehicles are left on our premises at the owner's risk. We take reasonable care of vehicles in our possession but accept no liability for theft or damage beyond fair wear and tear. Vehicles dropped off outside of opening hours are not insured by us until we have acknowledged receipt in writing. We reserve the right to charge a storage fee of £20 + VAT per day for vehicles not collected within 14 days of notification that work is complete.
Our liability for any claim is limited to the value of the services provided in connection with that claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of earnings or vehicle downtime, except where required by law. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected.
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us at [email protected] or 01788 877660. We will endeavour to resolve complaints promptly and fairly.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you need to cancel or rearrange a booked appointment, please contact us as soon as possible by telephone on 01788 877660 or email at [email protected]. We ask for a minimum of 24 hours' notice where possible. We understand this is not always achievable in a breakdown or emergency — please just contact us at the earliest opportunity.
If you do not attend a booked appointment without prior notice, we reserve the right to charge a no-show fee of £30 + VAT. We will use our discretion and will not apply this charge in genuine emergency situations.
If you authorise work to begin and subsequently wish to cancel before completion, you remain liable for the cost of any work already carried out, any parts already ordered specifically for your vehicle (including non-returnable items), and any diagnostic time already spent. We will advise you clearly of any costs before releasing your vehicle.
We reserve the right to cancel or postpone an appointment in exceptional circumstances, including equipment failure or factors outside our control. We will contact you as promptly as possible and arrange an alternative appointment.
If you have booked remotely (via our website, telephone or email), you may have a 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. However, once you have requested that work commences within that period, your right to cancel without charge may be limited to work not yet carried out. Please contact us if you have questions about your cancellation rights before booking.
